“ I always like going to the Double D. It's familiar, convenient, and they always try to satisfy their clientele. The menu selection is popular, plus the daily specials. It's great for couples or entire families. Halfway between town and home makes it close to either & a great place to meet. And the owners are perhaps even more dedicated than the 2 sets of previous owners (when it was Cousin's, then became Sweet G's. I was one who voted for the name "Dawson Diner", so I feel a little more connected since they chose that moniker. I would always recommend Dawson Diner for a quick bite or dinner on the go. ”
“ Excellent food, with real homemade flavour. The Double D burger was one of the best we've ever had. The desserts were to die for. Best part of the whole night was the service though. What a great group of staff, from the waitresses right up to the owners. It was busy and they were run off their feet, but gracious and smiling the whole time. It’s been beautifully renovated , with updated amenities and decor, the service is fantastic and the food is like homemade!!! I gave it 5 stars for everything! They also sell the most delicious deserts to take home and their menu has so many options as well as breakfast all day !!! Oh and the prices are great too!! ”

“ I had breakfast at Dawson Diner today. The food was great as usual and I loved the new look after their renovations. The place feels fresh and well-maintained. However, the service could be improved. It didn’t feel very attentive to the tables. Still, I enjoyed the food and the new setup a lot! Recommended ”
“ We were fortunate enough to come by Sweet G's while passing through Thunder Bay. Let me tell you this is a gem. By 8am there is a lineup out both the front and back door on Saturday morning. Ford the founder and host is exactly as the name states. The serving staff are full of smiles and chipper - even first thing in the morning. Coffee was great, the food was exactly what you'd expect from good home cooking. The staff said we should try a Finnish pancake but we ordered eggs and bacon, so she gave us a small sample of the Finnish pancakes anyway :) Felt quite lucky to come across this spot just by chance. (Behind sweet G's is Gorda home and he has a few cabins as bed and breakfast - the breakfast is free if you stay a night in the cabins). ”
“ I highly recommend this kitchen to anyone. I had a steak and it was well-done. Of all places besides The Keg, it’s difficult to get a well cooked steak, and this place does an excellent job. I had my steak well-done and it was thoroughly cook and “SOFT”. I love it here. The ladies are amazingly friendly. And it was recently renovated, so it’s beautiful. ”
